The pocket dragon - Praise from dpreview The pocket
all who think I should do here uncritical promotion of the XZ-1 should look at times the criticism of dpreview . Other hand, this is a bare slating. Phil Askey and his team have since written a hymn of praise, which triggers an immediate purchase reflex.
The difference is perhaps that dpreview compares the camera to direct competitors - Canon S95, G12, the Lumix LX5, the Samsung EX-1 and the Nikon P7000, get all the little trick. And I here of the PEN and the I-5 go out - cameras, which in its higher-- class, good front are included.
I'm doing here this to determine whether the camera for a DSLR photographer and PEN-user as a "small bag" is good - and it does. More than you this offers an image quality at which many a DSLR with kit lens has to stretch very much - and it is small, convenient and comfortable.
Back to camera: Today even tried the bracketing function - after the camera has three frames, each with 1.7 EV difference has to offer-which should actually suffice for most HDR applications. Nu is of course a problem with the HDR, if you just sit in a snow hole and sunshine only knows through hearsay.
So I have a bit of snapped out of the window - a couple of oranges to give the color spot and the weather outside the contrast. As usual, out-of-Cam, simply added together, only the RAW in Photomatix and mapped.
The camera takes three pictures with 1.7 EV distance, that's enough. The exposure I have to 2EV revised upwards because of course, the camera, the large bright area outside expect to gray at 18% and has therefore under-exposed. Coming from a E-System camera, you have to get used to a point, however: the bracketing snaps one with its own drive mode "BKT (bracketing). In the single image or series mode, there's no bracket. Has a clear advantage: one can hardly forget the bracketing auszuzuschalten again, so that you messed up the images by mistake.
A little info: I have also measured the dynamic range of the pocket dragon and was surprised: the Winz sensor provides smooth 9EV dynamics - for a compact is phenomenal, and explains why the camera and the high ISOs mastered so well.
